On July the 22nd, we welcomed Dr Jeanette Young, Governor of Queensland, Australia, to Plastometrex. Her Excellency was visiting Cambridge as the head of a delegation looking to strengthen trade ties between the UK and Queensland, with a particular focus on new and innovative start-ups.

During the visit, the Governor heard from our CEO, Dr. James Dean, who presented an overview of Plastometrex that included our early history, our breakthrough metal testing technology, our future metal testing products, and our ambitious plans for scaling the company. The Governor also received a tour of our laboratories and witnessed live demonstrations of our benchtop Indentation Plastometer and our high-temperature testing stage (Hot-PIP).

Our plans to develop portable equipment for testing of high value metal assets was deemed particularly interesting in view of the more than 3000 km of gas transmission pipeline currently servicing the energy demands of Queensland, and its potential to support their ambitions around transitioning to a hydrogen-based economy.
